ItzaClip! Doggy Day Spa - What's included in grooming
ItzaClip! Doggy Day Spa - "Positive Handling with a Clip!"
So what's included in every grooming experience at  ItzaClip! Doggy Day Spa?

We do not do "assembly line grooming", your pet will receive my undivided attention during his/her groom and will be pampered in a relaxing atmosphere, and bathed with quality products that are always included(no upselling), we utilize the latest in technology to make our grooms efficient and enjoyable for your pet. I love doing creative and longer scissored styles, and will happily teach clients how to properly brush and bathe at home so that they can keep longer hair matt free.

First when you come for your very first consultation, Joanne will discuss with you what your vision is for your pet as well as what your lifestyle can support. We will fill out all the appropriate paperwork, and she will make note of any sensitivities, or health issues that might affect your pets comfort during his/her groom.

First thing we do with your pet is evaluate the condition of their coat, and the temperament and tolerance to being handled. Once that is done, any matts are removed and your pets ear hair is either trimmed or removed using a special gripping powder and by tweezing only a few at a time. Then they are thoroughly cleaned and swabbed using a warmed ear cleaner made from Gentian Violet, Witch Hazel and Boric acid.

Cotton balls are then put in the ears to prevent any moisture from getting into the ear canal and causing an infection. we also apply mineral oil based drops into the eyes to prevent any product from getting into the eyes.

Next is the bath, using nice warm water your pet is first rinsed out to prepare the cuticles for bathing. Product is selected by coat type and needs, such as whitening, or extra conditioning. Only Hypo tearless shampoo is used on the head.
Shampoo is massaged into the skin and coat using a soft rubber brush, and if your pet has dandruff they are exfoliated using a special scrub mitt. The first shampoo is rinsed out and your pet is rebathed to ensure they are squeaky clean! A conditioning product is applied to every client according to breed and coat needs, massaged in and rinsed out.

Unlike other grooming salons we do not "kennel dry" our clients, rather each client is  "fluff dyed" by gently brushing him out while lightly blowing warm air on them. Extra measures will be taken to keep old, and very young dogs warm and comfortable.

For the finish clipping, I approach dogs with calming body language learned from my previous occupation in Operant conditioning(clicker Training), and seminars on handling reactive dogs by Turid Rugaas.  If a client is sensitive over a certain body part, then I will change my approach and take it in steps to gain the confidence and trust of the client.

I always trim the sanitary area lightly, under the arms, between the pads of the feet, and the inner ears. Nails are always trimmed, and dremmelled or filed if the dog permits. We are proud of our finish grooms and want you to be too.

Finally your pup will be topped off with a spritz of cologne, bows/ ribbon /scarf or bandanna, and you will get a doggy bag with a report card on how your dog did as well as any health/coat/behavior issues we noticed and any tips  for desensitizing/training tolerance. We also include an appointment card with a removable sticker for your calendar. For our VIP clients we offer pre-booked automatic appointments as well as reminder calls.

We highly value our clients that are loyal, punctual, and appreciative of of all that we do for them, and try our best to accommodate last minute changes, and unforeseen circumstances.
